Udmurtia’s most famous museum exhibitions are devoted to these great national heroes.

Kalashnikov’s museum is located in Izhevsk, the city where Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov has lived since 1948 and where legendary AK-47 assault riffles have produced serially since 1949. This unique museum was opened in November, 2004 and was devoted to 85th birthday of the famous designer. The exhibition consists of archive materials, personal belongings, gifts, historical weapons, and also examples of small arms, which were made in Izhevsk at different time. An exhibition called “The web of life” is devoted to Mikhail Kalashnikov personally. It is built on the principle of a biographical line – started from birth of the designer and followed by the time of his worldwide recognition. The museum refers to visitors from the first-person, as organizers have planned. To create this effect a traditional museum exhibition is enlarged with modern technical means - projection screens, plasma panels, information kiosks. Videos and films are being shown to tell the story about weapons and about Mikhail Kalashnikov’s life. There are videos with a designer himself, where he looks back at his past activities, and sometimes he simply reads his favorite poetry. All exhibition items and materials are to describe the way of life Kalashnikov’s way of life, as well as to give visitors an opportunity to see and perceive the time and events through the legendary designer personality. There are air gun and firearm shooting saloons in museum show-room. Here you can practice your pinpoint firing at static and interactive targets from 15 kinds of firearms and 9 kinds of air guns. You can finish your excursion with visiting the gift shop and cozy café, which are located onsite museum complex.
